Community Radio for St Helens
Radio Together has been formed to pursue the objective of bringing Community Radio to St Helens and its surrounding areas. All the members of the group are experienced in radio broadcasting and are dedicated to achieving this objective for the benefit of the community and the people of St Helens.
The facilities would be accessible and available to anyone who wishes to use the creative medium of radio.
St Helens is in what we like to call a “radio vacuum”. By this we mean we are surrounded by radio stations both BBC and Commercial, but none of which is solely dedicated to serving the population of St Helens.
With the support of you, the people of St Helens, we aim to change this.
Community radio is strictly controlled in the ways it can be funded which means we will have to raise part of the money from grants and donations, and the rest from sponsorship and advertising.
Obviously we would welcome any financial support that might be forthcoming, but it need not be financial, it could be for example, donations of equipment, or providing accommodation for the station.
All we are actually asking you to do at the moment is to give us your support in the form of a letter or e-mail saying why you think it would be a good idea, that you support the idea, its objectives, and the benefits it would bring to the community.
Please don't let St Helens miss out on something as beneficial as a community radio station. Every letter of support we receive puts us one step closer to achieving the goal of giving St Helens its own radio station.
